Starting Out

One of my favorite games as a child, was "copying books". That is what my best friend and I would call it. We would sit downstairs at an old dark table and literally copy our favorite books. We would create a little booklet of paper, fold and staple it, and transfer the writing (my job) as well as the illustrations (his job).
I've loved books since I was so young all I could do was point at the pretty pictures and say "oooo". This love has only grown stronger through the years, and while I do not "copy books" that I love any longer, I am an avid reader.
I am a mother to three glorious guys. Each one has been an inspiration, Stephen, is twenty two and becoming an amazing civil engineer with top honors. Brandon is my twelve year old with a special talents in music and computer games. Jamieson is my youngest at nine, and is our rising sports star.
My husband, Steve, and I have been married for eight wonderful years, and together for ten. We both teach Uechi-Ryu Karate, though he has the Master's degree. I currently hold a second degree. Our whole family practices as well. Stevie has his first degree and the other two are ready to test for their own.
Martial Arts has been an important inspiration for me. My first published work The Spirit Dragon is about a young boy dealing with school yard bullies and weight. His solution? Karate!
A Few new things to report at this time. I have created a new type of Ezine. Ezine's are magazines online. Free to read and enjoy. You can find that site as well as submission guidelines etc at Pagan Imagination. I have also had several short stories published in other online magazines. Little White Crosses was just featured in House of Horror, based out of the UK. I've also been featured as well as have an interview coming up in August 2009 at SNM magazine. This Ezine is incredible and has won several awards. The short Blood Brothers appeared in their July Bang ya Ta Death issue. I was also featured in Choate Road as their author interview down inside "The Well" for the month of July 09. Another Short will be featured in The Monsters Next Door in the month of September 09 called The Toyol.
I am now also writing a series for the Waterville Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce newsletter. It is a short story naming all the business members within for some entertainment during the summer and future months to come. It has been a really fun opportunity. My novel, The Astral Avneger was released June 28th and is now available and two more shorts will appear in The Ladies of Horror 2009 edition out in October 2009. This is just getting way too much fun!
Spirituality, crafting and reading of course, are just a few of my other interests.
I have a really interesting goal. In being an artist, I think it is important to try all kinds of new things. For instance, in being an author, I would like to be profient in most if not all genres. I do have some favorites though. I have written for children and young adults. I adore my horror and thriller books. It shouldn't ever surprise you to find a story or two or five hundred in the fantasy/ sci-fi genres as well. Most poems I've written have been about romance and broken hearts. Gee how original. :) True though.
Be sure to take a look at my "Inspirations page." There are some great pictures there. Another really funny inspirtation I have, is just your basic piece of blank notebook paper, and a pencil. There is something about the smell of the lead and fresh blank paper, that just makes me want to create something. Nature is another huge inspiration to me, so I've included some really neat pictures of sun rises and other shots that touched me.
UPDATES!
Most recently I have been able to add several publishing credits. Short stories included in several Anthologies including but not limited to, The House of Horror published Little White Crosses, which tells the tale of what happens to the spirit of a loved one when remembered by placing a little white cross at the site of their death. Also recently published by The Mosnters Next Door, The Toyol; which is the story of a woman who creates a baby she really doesn't want to give up to be the body of a demon just to join a coven. Very creepy.
I am a member of the New England Horror Writer's Association who just participated at Rock and Shock horror and music convention in Worcester Mass. It was an incredible event. We had a great time. The picture where I met Director John Landis who did Thriller with Michael Jackson is where that was taken. I also got to meet Corbin Bernstein who said I smelled good. That was awesome! :) Picture of such below:
He played Carly's Dad on General Hospital which I still watch. :) Really exciting and just as handsome in person. Holy cow!
I also got to meet the guys of the KillingBoxx where I have recently become a "blood donor". Look for more pictures on the insprations page of that incredible day. Their banner is located in several places on the site but be sure to visit and become a donor at KILLINGBOXX.COM
I am also a new member to Broad Universe, a group promoting women writers with tons of events and some really incredible members. Keep an eye out for appearences with them on my myspace page where you will also find the Angela Mystique blog. Angela is currently haunting a Post Master who treated her with descrimination and killed her job for "covert" reason. The "Leprechaun Man" is now being haunted by Angela. Will she be justified? Follow the blog for a really fun story and to find out who lives, and who dies... MWAUHHHHH.
